HT1223 - Black Culture / Black Aesthetics: Adapting 10 Principles of Black Design Aesthetic

Course information and assignments provide opportunities for investigations within the built environment via a unique focus on the importance of visual language and cultural intervention upon project typologies of varying scales and work scope in response to considerations of social context, site, and program. Adapting 10 Principles of Black Design Aesthetic Investigation will allow the student to study the cultural and historical narratives of a people, as preserved through their architectural heritage and built urban landscapes and to learn to apply that knowledge in contemporary ways that are appropriate and meaningful. Process notation and illustration are critical during the course for each student to evaluate his or her understanding of the content and the materials presented each session.
